This essay is a reflection about the importance of Regionalism in Brazil, since the fascination of the first chronicle-writers for the description of nature and of Indians, on to Romantic Nacionalism and its realist and naturalist developments - be they nationalist or critical - and their mapping of the national reality. Politically engaged Regionalism comes back to the fore in the 30's, having the Northeast as its center. This literature, which has become the main esthetic program in our fiction.Downloads
