Abstract

An essay that seeks to point some representations about the contemporary unemployment and some relationships established between this latter and the so-called “qualification”, specially in the city of São Paulo, from text fragments [a report by the São Paulo’s newspaper Folha de S. Paulo; an interview preparation guidebook diffused by the union center Força Sindical (Union Force); a material presented by the Secretaria de Emprego e Relações do Trabalho do Estado de São Paulo [Secretariat of Employment and Labor Relations of the State of São Paulo - SERT]. The purpose is, through reading and considerations about such materials, to problematize the notions of “new labor world” and “new worker” and certain concepts about Brazilian history and society that pass by such considerations.
