“Choice and access to the best schools of Rio de Janeiro: A rite of passage”, by Rosistolato (2015), proposes to think about educational phenomena based on the anthropological theory of rituals. For this, the author investigates the events of "relocation" and "relocation" between the first and second cycles of elementary school, in public schools in the North and South Zones of the city of Rio de Janeiro, as rites of passage that involve not just issues of the school bureaucracy, which would automatically reallocate and relocate these students. But, also, criteria that go beyond what is explicit within the school bureaucracy. In addition, Rosistolato creates the concept of "good school rituals", which would be rituals in which the children's families develop actions that involve state officials in order to have their children "relocated" and "relocated" to the best schools.
