This essay aims to present the epistemological break of Althusser for a scient´ific reading of the works of Marx. There are put the general elements which distinguish the works of youth from those of maturity, contesting the views that unify or submit them into a teleological movement. It is presented, in this sense, the concept of materialism of the encounter and it is highlighted its importance to contemporary marxist science.
