Focus and Scope

The Geologia USP. Série Científica (ISSN 2316-9095) is a journal concerned with the publication of carefully evaluated and revised original research papers on various fields of Geology. Although the journal publishes scientific documents in both Portuguese, English languages, it is encouraged submissions in English.

Peer Review Process

 

The deadline for the reviewer feedback is approximately 30 days.

Reviewers’ comments (criticism, suggestions) will be sent to the main author/additionalcorrespondent for the necessary adjustments.

Once the changes have been made, the author should forward the revised version of the manuscript to reviewers´ reassessment. The article will be published only after the reviewers´ agreement and, in a final decision by the Editorial Board.

Manuscripts in English can be reviewed by a professional hired by the journal. That review will be sent to author for mutual agreement.

Any correction on the final proof before publication will be done by the author(s) and modifications will not be accepted during this process.

Publication Frequency

Quarterly.

Publication in: March, June, September and December.

Open Access Policy

This journal offers free access to its content, following the principle of providing free scientific knowledge to all with no access fees..

This journal doesn’t charge APCs or submission charges.

Archiving

The journal Geologia USP. Série Científica, takes filing system of the National Library, Law No. 10,994, of 12/14/2004, for immediate sending of files after publication of the current issue.

Plagiarism

Geologia USP. Série Científica accepts original and unpublished articles. It uses the iThenticate - Professio nal Plagiarism Prevention system to compare the text of papers for similarity in order to prevent scholarly plagiarism and self-plagiarism. Texts that show similarity with others already published, manipulation of citations and/or data will be excluded from the evaluation process and, depending on the severity of the scientific misconduct, authors may be suspended. Geologia USP: Série Científica adopts the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) (http://publicationethics.org/) and of the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) (https://doaj.org/publishers#advice), in addition to relying on policies and regulations contained in national and international documents of renowned institutions.

Journal History

The scientific dissemination in charge of the Institute of Geosciences of USP began in 1970 with the IGA Bulletin. In 1972 it is renamed Bulletin IG, , followed by Boletim IG-USP, Series (Scientific, Didactic and Special Publication) from 1984 to 2000. In 2001, the journal "Geologia USP. Série Científica" replaces IG Bulletin. It adopts a new layout, expands the consultative body, increases the frequency of publications and promotes a politic for exchanging with libryries and academic institutions.

The journal is indexed in the most known databases such as Elsevier, Georef, Biosis, Scopus, Ebsco and Qualis. After 2008 the articles are been published in ePUB format and since 2012 DOI (Digital Object Identifier) is included in the papers while electronic submissions become fully available through the Open Journal System. In 2013, due to raise of accepted papersit is issued quarterly. As of in the second semester of 2016 submissions are available directly in USP Journals Portal. Geologia USP.
