Resumen

This work describes two aspects of education in Brazil associated with: (1) entry of high school students into public universities and (2) vocational training. Initially, aspects of evaluation criteria and selection methods adopted by secondary schools were analyzed, with the aim of increasing the admission of students into public universities. Later, new university students were evaluated with respect to their difficulties in progressing in the university considering their disabilities and lack of basic training. It has been concluded that there has been a need for changes in university teaching resources in order to solve problems related to educational stagnation (given the poor education) and college dropout
