Studies indicate that deforestation in the Amazon implies a reduction in the sup- ply of moisture to the atmosphere and consequently the precipitation. This paper presents the results of applying remote sensing techniques to compare trends in precipitation and Cloud Top Brightness Temperature (TBTN) in nine areas ranging from heavy clearing forest cover virtually unchanged. The precipitation data were obtained from the TRMM satellite - 3B43, the TBTN were obtained from the Goes satellite and the data were obtained from deforestation of Inpe (2011). The results indicate possible changes in rainfall patterns, the patterns of formation of deep convective clouds and negative trends in precipitation for the area with deforestation.Downloads
