The city of Campo Mourão-PR is located close to the Tropic of Capricorn and is influenced by alternating low and high atmospheric pressure air masses.
The contrast in pressure and atmospheric systems are more evident in the spring, particularly in the transition months from winter to summer, such as in October. This month marks the return of convective rain episodes, characteristic of summer, although the actuation of frontal systems still prevails. The month is also marked by storm episodes, consequence of the low and high pressure air masses, the Frontogenesis, the manifestations of the Mesoscale Convective Complexes (MCC) and the Low-Level Jets (LLJ). For this region the interannual rainfall is irregular, however, in October 2017, it was registered 396.6 mm total precipitation in Campo Mourão. In order to investigate the genesis of such a high volume, we studied the participation of air masses, frontal systems, MCCs and also the participation of the Low-Level Jets. We found out that the rainfall as a consequence of the MCCs was close to 30,0% and the interactions between the humidity brought by the LLJ, the evolution of the cyclogenesis and the expansion and action of the continental tropical mass enriched the storms.
