Abstract

In this work the author suggests, based on some examples, as the use of accents on words, that orthography reveals what Lacan called the instance of the letter in the unconscious. On the one hand, there is the structure of the language itself, that determines the significant's position according to syntax, on the other hand, there is the significant's position in the order of lalangue, i.e. , in the singular version of the language that characterizes the position of a subject.
