notes on psychoanalysis and education in the French context

Abstract

In this work, we circumscribe some of the characteristics and impasses experienced by adolescents from migrant families in France. These young people end up being placed in a frontier social space, notably in their experience in National Education, this constituting itself as a series of devices for transmitting both school content and ways of life and self-culture that are linked to a certain idea republican society. We think here of education as a separate culture, which offers ways of being, acting, thinking, feeling, in addition to a whole myriad of representations and content of anthropological value. This sometimes clashes with other cultural, linguistic and identity values ​​experienced and brought by these teenagers who usually live a kind of split between worlds and subjective spaces so different between those at home and the social field (through education). We deal with these issues through our experience as a mental health professional in France, bringing two cases that we follow and that portray the dramas of adolescents in a cross-cultural situation.
