About the Journal
Focus and Scope
The journal Estudos Avançados is a publication of the Institute of Advanced Studies of the University of São Paulo (IEA-USP) and is edited three times a year.
Launched in December 1987, Estudos Avançados has consolidated its position as one of Brazil's leading university magazines.
In addition to essays and treatises by IEA researchers and guest lecturers, Estudos Avançados also publishes texts by other specialists on issues of national and international relevance. The Review also seeks to be a forum for debates on social-economic and Latin American problems.
Surveys carried out by independent consultants at the request of Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP) reveal the importance of Estudos Avançados in its years of existence. The Review was considered a "natural conduit for quality intellectual production" from multifarious sources.
Each edition brings a dossier with varied and complementary viewpoints.
The abbreviated title of the journal is Estud. av., which should be used in bibliographies, footnotes and bibliographical references and strips.
