Abstract

This article intends to make a cutout, a revival of some of the bibliography on the subject in Brazil, to fundamentally punctuate two specific cases: the first, the already studied Manifesto dos Pioneiros da Nova Educação (Manifesto of the Pioneers of the New Education) as an expression of the national dimension of the pedagogical problem in 1932; and the second, in 1934, was the occasion when the cultural elites of São Paulo sought to give an international tone to the newly created University of São Paulo by inviting a significant number of foreign professors. We will attempt to deal with this double perspective in order to investigate how the idea of the university and the project of the university appeared in the discourse and actions of São Paulo and foreign intellectuals in the early 1930s. The documentary sources include the document A reconstrução educacional no Brasil: ao povo e ao governo – manifesto dos pioneiros da educação nova, as well as publications that gathered material from the press on school and education, organized by the Board of the Education of the State of São Paulo
