This article, the result of a presentation made at the 49th National Meeting of Rural and Urban Studies (CERU), presents the issues of memory and traditions of Portuguese immigrants in celebrations dedicated to Saint John. I am the daughter of Portuguese immigrants and I seek to bring specific memories by analyzing the trajectory of my parents who taught me values and the meaning of life in its fullness. Remembering and memorizing traditions from overseas that I learned to live with and love since I was little. Everything about the São João festival took place in a São Paulo whose neighborhood streets were unpaved and helped to create bonfires and the general joy of relatives, friends, and neighbors. Nothing was missing, food, music, dancing, raffles. Quentão, mulled wine, etc.
