The Unity amongst Knowledge and the Damages of Childhood. Notes on the Method and Pedagogy in Vico and Descartes

In this work I try to make a brief presentation of the confrontation between two pedagogical perspectives: the first, which had a great fortune in modernity, was defended by Descartes in texts such as the Rules for the direction of the spirit and the Discourse of the method and will have its consequences in the Logic of Port -Royal; the second perspective, which remained marginal, was defended by the Italian philosopher Giambattista Vico in a text entitled De nostri temporis studiorum ratione (1709). Two points will be highlighted here: the theme of the philosophical vision of childhood and the theme of the unity of knowledge.
