This article is the result of a conference held between June 28 and July 4, 1972 at the Villa Serbelloni belonging to the Rockefeller Foundation in Bellagio, Italy. Several prominent researchers have come together to discuss the concept of Open Society in its various aspects. The contribution of Passerin D'Entrèves, as he himself says, is directed to practical and necessary aspects for the realization of an open society. In his approach, he relates this concept to that of political obligation, a notion widely discussed throughout his work and life as a professor and researcher.
