Abstract

Founded in 1968, the Escambray Theater Group is one of Latin America´s iconic theater groups. The work developed in Cuban rural area sets a mark on Cuban theater history. Fifty years of systematic dedication to theater, non-interrupted, creating and dialoguing with its community. This study exposes the Cuban context which made this unprecedented theater initiative possible in the country.

    Doutora em Artes pela Escola de Comunicações e Artes da Universidade de São Paulo (ECA/USP). Atriz e pesquisadora teatral, atualmente trabalha com o Teatro La Candelaria em Bogotá, Colômbia.
