Abstract

Brazilian journalism experiences a scenario in which masscommunication vehicles diffuse narratives surrounded bystereotypes for some contexts, such as peripheries. Therefore, groups of journalists articulate in these localitieswith the purpose of constructing their own communication, proposing to give visibility to the local culture and to offer apositive perspective of the peripheral daily life. This articleaims to map the journalistic initiatives undertaken from theoutskirts of SãoPaulo and to know the aspects of organizingthese groups. For this, a bibliographic research was carriedout and a table was constructed, with movements identifiedfrom networks and meetings aimed at journalists from theperipheries. We found that the largest concentration ofinitiatives is in the South zone of the city; In addition, there isthe perception of new directions for journalism, thehorizontal management applied in the initiatives and thesearch for alternative means to keep the work done.
