This paper focuses attention on the importance of field-training in the preparation of professional public health personnel. It stresses the need for inter-professional group projects to stimulate team work. Such a procedure is a must in under-developed countries where, due to shortage, technical personnel can not be employed at local level as a rule. This prevents a better understanding of each other's functions. The experience in field-training of puhlic health students from the Liniversity of São Paulo, Brazil, is also described. Community surveys were carried out by mixed professional groups (physicians, enginneers and veterinarians) around Arara4uara. The evaluation of the work performed is reported with indication that the whole student hody should he included. Sugestions are made designed to improve field-training of future studients.Downloads
