Abstract

New assistance sites have been created, replacing the traditional mental health institution, in the search of new methods to treat the mentally ill patient, These new methods should be able to replace the old psychiatric patterns and allow the social reintegration of these individuais. The objective of this paper, starting with the report of a patient in an open institution in Santos, is to question how tradictional practices can be observed in these new services sites.
