Abstract

Geo-historical Information Systems (GISs) may be used to reconstitute long-term cityscapes and are crucial when spatializing complex databases to develop regressive thematic cartographies – block by block, street by street, lot by lot – and to compare textual and visual information. We propose to demonstrate our methods, theoretical approaches and results acquired, developing new paths for research and adding to our comprehension of the process, dynamics and rhythms of social production of cities from the point of view of their material aspects.
