The prevalence of equine influenza was verified by means of the positivity of the antibody responses to the influenza virus strain A/Eq2, on sera taken from horses belonging to São Joaquim Farm, Immunizations Section, of the Institute Butantan, placed in the State of São Paulo. Little differences were observed in antibody responses between horses designated for production and control of immunotherapeutic agents there was, however, a decrease of antibody titles in the period of 60 days after the outbreak. The drop in the level of the antibodies observed by serologic analysis of those horses indicates the low protection conferred by the antibodies against infection or reinfectionDownloads
