Abstract

Sixteen lactating cows, similar both in size and production , were distributed , in a completely randomized design, to a 2x2 factorial arrangement of treatments, as follow s : A) Rhodes grasslands (Chloris gayana), with 75 kg N/ha, continuously grazed: B) same than A , rotationally grazed; C) Rhodes grasslands without N, continuously grazed; D) same than C, rotationally grazed. All treatments had 3,3 cows/ha. The fat corrected milk productions by cow by day and the daily weight gains were, respectively: A) 8,1 kg and 0,472 kg; B ) 8,1 kg and 0,250 kg; C) 8,5 kg and 0,379 kg; D) 7,6 kg and 0,336 kg. There were no statistical differences among treatments, during the experimental period of 70 days.
