Resumen

The  action  in  preexistence  occurs  from  questions of  space  and  it  can be  understood  as   a  project  premise,  a  substantial  resource  for  a critical  and  purposeful  action. Thus,  it  is   proposed  to  understand  how architecture  and  art,  at  their  different scales,  face  the   logic  of spaces and  emptiness,  trying  to  understand  how  it  is  possible,  based  on  the  questioning  of  space  previously  given,  to  deal  with  overlapping  times, placing  it  as  a   focus  of  artistic  and  architectural  practice.   To  do  so, the  selected  objects  of  study   were  interventions projects,  which  faces those  issues while  recognizing  the   preexistence:  Pinacoteca  of  São Paulo  State,  by  Paulo  Mendes  da  Rocha;  Solar  do   Unhão,  by  Lina Bo  Bardi;  Reforma  Prudência,  by  Andrade  Morettin;  the  setting  for The   Rotary  Notary by  DS  +  R  and  Susan  Mosakowski,  Richard Serra's  Tilted  Arc sculpture   and  the  interventions  Absence  Detector by Rubens  Mano
