Relação entre força de preensão manual, impacto da doença e qualidade de vida de mulheres com fibromialgia

O objetivo do estudo foi investigar a relação entre força de preensão manual (FPM), impacto da doença e qualidade de vida de mulheres com fibromialgia (FM). O estudo caracteriza-se como transversal, e 91 mulheres com FM, com média de idade de 49,37 ± 9,77 anos, foram avaliadas quanto ao impacto da doença (FIQR), qualidade de vida (SF-12v2), dados demográficos, antropométricos e FPM. Valores de FPM inferiores a 23,1 kg foram considerados baixos, e as mulheres foram divididas em dois grupos de acordo com a FPM: < 23,1 kg e ≥ 23, 1 kg. O Teste t de Student e o d de Cohen (d) foram utilizados para comparar e estimar o tamanho do efeito, respectivamente, entre as variáveis dos grupos. A correlação de Pearson foi utilizada entre as variáveis. Diferenças significativas (p < 0,05) foram encontradas entre os grupos para FIQR total e seus domínios função e impacto geral (d = 0,58, 0,74 e 0,47, respectivamente), e SF-12v2 componente físico (d = - 0,62), e mental (d = - 0,41), favoráveis ao grupo com FPM ≥ 23,1 kg. Correlações inversas significativas foram encontradas entre FPM e FIQR total e domínios (r = - 0,21 a - 0,31). Correlações positivas significativas foram encontradas entre FPM e os componentes físico (r = 0,35) e mental (r = 0,29) do SF-12v2. Mulheres com baixos níveis de FPM apresentaram maior impacto da FM e pior qualidade de vida, principalmente relacionadas aos aspectos físicos do FIQR e SF-12v2. A FPM pode ser utilizada como ferramenta de auxílio na triagem e manejo, principalmente da condição física de mulheres com FM.
