Abstract

This paper aims to analyze some subjects that guided the church activities with the rural workers without-land, in late 1970‟s and beginning of the following decade. Due to the political, economical and social situation that Brazil was living in that time, organized groups inside the Church, under the optics of the Theology of the Liberation started to develop countless works with marginalized groups by the society. In this way, the actions of the Church, especially through the Basic Eclesiais communities (CEBs) and Pastoral Commission of the Earth (CPT), which had a special importance with the rural workers without-land, helping in the organization of several social movements to fight for the land. In the activities developed by the
religious agents, there was a desire between religion and politics, that people without-land were stimulated to be actors of their own history, struggling for their liberation and to be on the way to the promised land.
