Abstract

The history of Cuban independence is the longest in America and one of the most dramatic: Cuba's independence came late in comparison with other Spanish-American countries, and even then not completely succeeded, as it was for a long period of the tutelage of U.S. policy. The long process of independence of Cuba led to important changes in Latin America because it ended the Spanish colonial presence in american territory and opened the way for a new phase of U.S. foreign policy for the Latin American territory. This article aims to analyze the conflict of Cuban independence, in the years 1895 to 1898
, from the perspective of the Brazilian press, through the stories presented in the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo, taking into account his political position, the internal distribution of news and political moment in which she was the Brazilian territory.
