Abstract

Dale Tomich is a professor at the University of Binghamton, having done his doctorate “Prelude to Emancipation: Sugar and Slavery in Martinique, 1830-1848” in 1976, by the University of Wisconsin. A reference in studies on the theme of the second slavery, Tomich has contributed to the debate on the relationship and connection between slave spaces in the Americas in the 19th century from this category. He is deputy director of the Fernand Braudel Center, which recently established the UFF Center on Global Inequalities. This interview was conducted by historian and RAN editor Beatriz Nowicki Galera on July 26, 2019.
