Abstract

The objective of this paper is the journalistic practice of a citizen radio and its social and political implications in the context where it is inserted. The aim is to know how this practice is carried out, who are the ones that are carried out, what is the specificity of this activity and what contributions it can offer to the theory of journalism. Política & Rock'n'Roll radio was taken as a case study, which was broadcast on 97.7 FM in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, from 2012 to 2014.  The theory of journalism as a construction of social reality and the Felipe Peña de Oliveira and Chris Atton´s reflections about alternative journalism, were taken as theoretical reference. The methodology consisted of a qualitative perspective.
