The development of the scientific psychology, starting with W. James, evolves the issue of the mind and the consciousness. Behaviorism refused the consciousness as scientific subject; the recent advances of Cognitive Science and Neuroscience develop its functional aspects. The present challenge is to consider the relationship between subjective experience and the physical processes of the brain. Arno Engelmann is examining the Consciousness as the starting point of the issue, offering a special contribution to its development in Brazil.Downloads
