Atavismo neoclássico de Gonçalves Dias

Abstract

The text examines the poetical practice of Gonçalves Dias as a result of the appropriation of principles and techniques intrinsic to the neoclassical poetry and the aesthetics of romanticism. This is not intended to represent him as a late Arcadian, nor as an out of place romantic, but as belonging to a time, the first half of the XIX century, in which the amalgamation between different artistic systems was the rule.
