During three decades ethnographic collections in museums have been the target of criticism that questioned their formation and their narratives about the communities associated with them. This discussion sets up in different ways. Many collections were (and still are) marked by colonialism. Others were constituted in the context of anthropological research. Gradually decolonization processes reconfigured them. Anthropologists, museologists and other professionals began to incorporate practices and knowledge from investigated subjects/collectives. More dialogical practices include people as subjects in processes that reverberate new ways of collecting, documenting, preserving and displaying collections. Many are the paths. Different are the advances and challenges from the global south. These practices are anchored in a new ethics guided by the effective participation of communities. How can we systematize and incorporate the contributions of researchers, especially anthropologists, in the construction of these new paradigms? This article proposes articulations with a collection in Berlin, Germany.
