History has expanded our view of the complexity of disability and its presence in the course of humanity, as well as how to address the issues surrounding people affected by it. The Christian Brotherhood of Persons with Disabilities (DCF)–in Brazil Christian Fraternity of People With Disabilities, initials FCD) - is a movement that is born in the mid-twentieth century in Europe, essentially religious in nature. It brings in its core strong impetus for the visibility of people with disabilities as it enables them to achieve self-esteem and autonomy and rescues the human dignity inherent to all people, whether disabled or not. In this process there is empowerment and involvement in struggles for their rights and the rights of other marginalized people. The achievement of self-esteem and autonomy and the rescue of human dignityare fundamental elements that set the foundation for an inclusive education.
