Contribuição ao estudo da dosagem dos sôros antipeçonhentos: Confronto entre dosagens pela determinacão das anticoasulinas especificas do plasma e o poder antitoxico do sôro

Abstract

1 - There is a direct relation between the toxicity of the poison of Lachesis Lanceolatus and its coagalating power. 2 - There is no relation between the toxicity of the poison of Lachesis Lanceolatus and its neutralizing powet in reference to specific sera. 3 - As was noted by Vital Brazil and J. Vellard, there are differences in the relations which exist between the two methods of dosage, this depending on the poison being of crotalic or of bothropic origin. 4 - In reference to the poison secreted by Crotalus terrificus there is a certain correspondence between the anticoagulating bodies found in the plasma and the antitoxic power of the serum. This fact has been demonstrated by the authors of the method. 5 - In reference to the poison of Lachesis Lanceolatus (bothropic poison) the relation between the anticoagulins present is the plasma and the antitoxic power of the serum is unstable depending on the coagulating and toxic power of this poison. In the standard for jararáca poison (Lachesis lanceolatus) V. J. 1, with a minimum deadly dose equal to 0,060 mgr and a minimum coagula ting dose equal to ... 0,00045 mgr the antitoxic power of the serum was in general 4,3 times greater than the minimum coagulating dose of the plasma. Whereas with the other jararáca poison standard V. j. 3, with a minimum deadly dose of 0,020 mgr., a minimum coagulating dose of 0,00015 mgr. the antitoxic power of the sera was 9,9 times greater than the minimum coagulating dose of the plasma. 6 - These averages were obtained from the dosage of antiophidic and antibothropic serum taken together, but when taken separately it was observed that it was not the same for these two sera: In the dosage with V. j. 1 of the antibothropic serum the antitoxic power was 3,6 times that of the anticoagulins of the plasma, whereas with antiophi.di.c serum this power was 5,6 times greater. With the V. j. 3 standar the antitoxic power of the serum were 8 times the anticoagulins of the plasma, and in the case of antiophidic serum it was 15,6 times greater. 7 - The antitoxic sera possess undoubtedly an individual action besides their specific power. 8 - These observations call the attention to certain facts which should be well studied so as to inprove the methods actually used for the dosage of antitoxic sera.
