By doing so, it also discusses some historiographical challenges concerning the history of popular movements. The text summarizes the debate posed by Hebe Maria Mattos' and Maria Luiza Ferreura de Oliveira' comments on Palacios' paper, highlighting new perspectives concerning the history of the poor free people in the Brazilian Empire.Downloads
