Abstract

The present paper considers the distribution of the quocient of two random variables as well as the possibility of applying the method to the particular case where the ·random variables are r ates. This method is illustrated by studying the percentual decrease in the infantile mortality rate in the county of São Paulo from 1955 to 1961 as compared to the one observed in the whole State during the same period of time.
